Louisiana Red had his memorial services in Hanover, Germany but did not have any services in the United States. Bob Corritore approached the Blues Foundation to put together a memorial show for him the day after the 2012 Blues Music Awards. Over 50 musicians lovingly participated in this event which by the way was extended an additional hour. Red had touched so many people’s lives. This poster put together by Amy Brat with the photo by Axel Küstner.

This is a vintage photo of Louisiana Red, and perhaps the earliest known photo of him. This was framed and on the wall at Louisiana Red’s home in Hannover. Bob snapped a photo while there for the funeral. We speculate that it was either a high school graduation photo or an early musician publicity photo.

In 1982 Bob Corritore booked Louisiana Red at The Purple Turtle in Phoenix. Years later, in 1991, this venue would become Bob’s club The Rhythm Room!
